Two things are worth settling first with bathroom worktop fitting in Dormers Wells: what it will cost and what has to come out to make room for it. Interwar semis and estate houses with the kitchen extended into the garden. Practical family layouts with long back-wall runs and tall units, and storage prioritised over showpiece detail. You do not need to know which one you have before you call. We work that out on the survey.
The kitchen doorway is usually offset into a corner, so one leg of an L is short before anyone has designed anything. What that does to a vanity is push the whole job into a narrow depth, because a bathroom takes the same stone as a kitchen in about two thirds of the width. A vanity is priced as its own piece, not as a length of worktop.
Windows and doors were replaced across whole streets on one programme, so the kitchen window is a plastic frame in the old opening with a deep lined reveal. Dense concrete and blockwork hold a bracket firmly, so a wall-hung unit is secure, though nothing can be chased in to hide a pipe. An original bathroom is usually the smallest room upstairs.
The archetypes on this patch are Interwar semi, postwar estate house, 1960s maisonette and recent infill. The floor datum is the thing that changes most between them.
