The housing stock
What we are usually working with in St Ann's
There is usually a step down into the back addition, so the kitchen floor and the hall floor are not the same level and neither of them is flat. Levelling is done under the units and not under the stone, so anything out is corrected before a piece is lifted in. The room is swept and the offcuts leave with us.
Residential streets are permit-controlled and narrow, and several have modal filters and planters that stop you driving straight through - check the route before the day rather than relying on a satnav.
These were built late enough to have a damp course and proper footings, so the front of the house is close to true and the rear addition holding the kitchen is the part that has dropped. The day is planned backwards from the hall. Carried once, and carried properly.
What we are cutting for, here, is Victorian terrace, Edwardian terrace and new hospital-site housing. The wall build-up is different in each, and the scribe follows the wall.
There is nothing to visit in St Ann's. Samples are posted free, the template is taken in your kitchen and the stone is fitted there too.
