Seven Sisters kitchens
The kitchens we meet in Seven Sisters
Nearly all the worktop jobs we quote in Seven Sisters start with the same conversation about what is already in the kitchen and what is staying. Terraces along and behind West Green Road, many converted, with kitchens in the back addition and a fair number relocated into a former bedroom on the first floor. Runs are short - 2.1m to 2.6m - and the sink often sits off-centre under a window that was never designed for a kitchen. If you are not sure, say so when you get in touch. It is a normal answer and we work with it.
Units are often only 500mm deep, so a standard 600mm stone top overhangs at the front and the doors need checking against it. Colour behaves differently in a room like that, which is why a sample sits on the units for a week and gets judged under the lights that will be on when somebody is cooking. A week with a sample on the units beats an hour in a showroom.
Working hours are constrained by the business underneath, so noisy work has a window rather than a day. Coming off a thick laminate top changes the front edge, and twenty millimetres reads closer to what the room is used to than thirty does against existing tiling and a window board. Cool artificial light turns a warm stone grey.
The mix here is Victorian terrace, flat above shop and post-war block. Two of those can sit on the same street and quote a long way apart.
