The housing stock
What we are usually working with in Old Oak and College Park
Injected damp courses and re-rendered lower walls leave the bottom metre standing proud of everything above it. Almost everything that makes a fitting day hard is a property of the building rather than of the stone. Overhangs get brackets before anyone leans on them.
The area is boxed in by railway lines, the canal and the A40, so there are only a handful of ways in and construction traffic for the wider regeneration regularly reroutes them - check the route the morning of, not the week before.
The kitchen occupies the ground floor of the addition with a garden door at the far end, so there is a second way in that is narrower than the front door and a great deal shorter. The units are levelled and packed before a top goes near them, because a settled floor shows immediately in a long straight edge. The slow parts are slow for a reason.
Locally the mix runs to late Victorian railway terrace, interwar terrace, postwar low-rise flats and new development on former railway land. Each of those behaves differently once the old top comes off.
Access. On the older terraces the streets are narrow with parking both sides and no loading bays at all.
There is nothing to visit in Old Oak and College Park. Samples are posted free, the template is taken in your kitchen and the stone is fitted there too.
