There is a reason we ask about the building before we talk about stone, and bathroom worktop fitting in Queenhithe is a good illustration of it. North bank riverside flats are built with the kitchen inboard against the core so the glazing stays clear, giving a 3-3.4m run and a peninsula that separates cooking from the living space. Original tops from the 1980s and 90s development wave are now well past their life, so replacement onto existing units means matching a moulded sink recess or an old inset hob cut-out. Once the template is taken the figure stops moving. Everything before that is an estimate and is described as one.
Underfloor heating in a screed rules out fixing into the floor and rules out standing anything heavy on a single point. Nobody looks at a bathroom surface until the sealant discolours, at which point nobody looks at anything else in the room. The stone is the simple half of a bathroom fit.
Sprinkler heads and extract ducts are coordinated into the ceiling, so an extractor over an island goes where the services already allow. Most of these flats have an en-suite as well as a bathroom, and the two rarely take the same depth, so they are drawn as two pieces rather than one repeated. The bathroom in a house like this is rarely where it started.
The building stock is riverside apartment block, 1980s-90s development on the north bank, warehouse-style conversion and modern flat above commercial floors. That is why the same worktop costs differently two doors apart.
