The housing stock
What we are usually working with in Richmond
Suspended timber floors flex underfoot, and anything that moves beneath a unit shows up later as a lipped join. The fitting day is planned backwards from all of it, before the first piece comes off the van. The whole run is dry-fitted before any adhesive is opened.
Conservation-area frontages with railings and steps, a strict CPZ with short-stay bays only, and a town centre that clogs at weekends; several riverside blocks flood-plan their basements, so lift access is from an upper lobby.
A villa cut into flats leaves kitchens in rooms that were never kitchens, with services run to wherever they could physically be made to reach. Scribing takes longer than the carry does, so the quiet half of the day is the half that runs over. Soft brick takes a different plug to blockwork.
Most of what we quote on here is Georgian terrace, Victorian terrace, Edwardian mansion block and 1990s riverside apartments. Each of those behaves differently once the old top comes off.
There is nothing to visit in Richmond. Samples are posted free, the template is taken in your kitchen and the stone is fitted there too.
