The housing stock
What we are usually working with in Royal Arsenal Riverside
Underfloor heating in a screed rules out fixing into the floor and rules out standing anything heavy on a single point. Height is set off the units and the hob, not off the tile line that was there before. Height off the units, not off the old tiles.
In the listed blocks you often can't chase or drill historic walls, so upstands and end supports have to be carried by the units alone. A gated estate with a barrier, controlled vehicle access and time-limited loading arranged through estate management; the listed conversions add restrictions on what can be fixed into original brickwork.
Ceiling heights are held to the minimum the plan allows, so the panel between worktop and wall units is a short piece. The plasterboard is genuinely flat here, so a full-height splashback sits well and a slim upstand looks almost redundant, but the sockets are the problem, because they are set out to the developer's original kitchen and often land at odd heights or right on a joint line. What the plaster is stuck to matters more than its colour.
What we are cutting for, here, is listed Arsenal building conversion, 2000s riverside apartment block and 2010s-2020s tower. None of them is harder than the others; they are awkward in different ways.
There is nothing to visit in Royal Arsenal Riverside. Samples are posted free, the template is taken in your kitchen and the stone is fitted there too.
