The single biggest variable in what bathroom worktop fitting costs in Coney Hall is not the material you pick but the room you are asking it to fit. A very uniform 1930s estate: small original kitchens with a larder, a rear lobby and a separate WC, and most owners take out the lobby wall to gain a metre of run. Finished kitchens tend to be a single L with a small breakfast bar rather than a full island, because the footprint will not take one. Send through a photograph or two and the rough run length. We will tell you what you are probably dealing with.
The balcony door frequently opens off the kitchen, which puts a threshold, a draught and a well-used route through one end of the run. Cleaning is what a bathroom surface actually lives through, since limescale, bleach and whatever gets used on the mirror all end up on it sooner or later. The bridge of stone behind the basin is the part that matters.
Windows and doors were replaced across whole streets on one programme, so the kitchen window is a plastic frame in the old opening with a deep lined reveal. Bathrooms in this stock are compact, squarely built and take a short vanity that will come out of almost any offcut, which makes them among the cheapest bathroom tops we cut. Loft en-suites lose their splash return to the slope.
What we find behind the front doors here is 1930s speculative estate semi, 1930s short terrace, post-war infill and bungalow. What is behind the plaster is different in each, and it matters at fixing.
