The kitchens in Harold Wood are not all one kind, and which kind you have changes the vanity tops long before the stone is ordered. Inter-war semis around the station taking the usual knock-through into the dining room, alongside a substantial modern development on the old hospital grounds where the houses and flats arrived with builder-standard kitchens now coming up for their first upgrade. The new-build kitchens are well-proportioned but the units are shallow, so the top overhang has to be set carefully. If you would rather someone just came and looked, that is the design and quotation visit, and it costs nothing in Harold Wood or anywhere else.
The scullery and the kitchen were knocked into one at some point, and the stub of the old dividing wall is still there under the plaster. The fittings come from four suppliers and arrive in no particular order, so the surface is drawn last and asked to reconcile all of them. A bathroom top is drawn from the fitted unit, never from a plan.
A serving hatch through to the dining room was standard, and where it has been blocked up the patch sits on a different plane to the wall either side of it. Half-tiled walls are the norm, and the tile line is what the splash return has to meet, which is a decision taken before machining rather than discovered afterwards. The soil stack decides the basin position more than taste does.
The buildings themselves are mostly 1930s semi, Edwardian terrace, post-war semi and 2010s new-build on the former hospital site. A quote that ignores which one you have is guessing.
