The housing stock
What we are usually working with in Wood Lane
Riser panels, wall boxes and the boiler cupboard sit in fixed positions the developer will not move for a worktop. Pieces come in the order they go down, because there is rarely anywhere to stand the second one while the first is bedded. Levelled under the units first.
Wood Lane itself carries heavy shopping-centre traffic with bus lanes and restricted stopping, and basement service yards have height barriers that rule out a high-roof van. Every building is managed, with a loading bay booked through the concierge, a contractor induction and a goods lift that has to be reserved in a time slot.
Windows are small and set to suit the elevation rather than the room, so most of the wall above the worktop is solid. The lift is measured before the piece is loaded, and once inside the flat the fitting is quick by comparison. Old floors get packed, not argued with.
On this patch the buildings are new-build apartment tower, former broadcasting building converted to flats, mixed-use block over retail and student and co-living scheme. The differences between them show up at template, not at enquiry.
There is nothing to visit in Wood Lane. Samples are posted free, the template is taken in your kitchen and the stone is fitted there too.
